Summary

To avoid carrying forward corrupted cached files into the upgraded environment, a cleanup of the files in the temp, logs, and data directories, as well as the Java work areas, should be performed prior to executing an over‑the‑top Cognos Analytics installation.

Furthermore, to mitigate issues associated with scheduled report execution—for example, reports getting stuck in a pending status or a significant backlog of scheduled reports building up during environment startup—the cleanup of the Cognos NC tables should be incorporated into the standard Cognos Analytics maintenance process.
