How to manually refresh the SSL certificate used by the IBM Content Navigator Windows Edit Service client

Summary

There are four ways to update an IBM Content Navigator Edit Service client with a new SSL certificate. Option 1 is to upgrade the client with the latest version of the Edit Client. Option 2 is to replace the SSL certificate in the existing Edit Service client installation with the newer certificate that is provided in the latest version of the Edit Service client. Option 3 is to download the new certificate from Fix Central and replace the certificate in the existing installations with the new certificate. Option 4 is to change the Edit client URL to use a custom certificate.

Steps

Option 1: Upgrade the client with the latest version of the Edit Client.
Option 2: Use the following procedure to update an existing Windows Edit Service client installation with the SSL certificate provided in the latest version of the Edit Service client:
  1. Install the latest version of the IBM Content Navigator Edit Service client for Windows on a workstation that is not using an existing version of the Edit Service client.  Refer to the matrix in the following technote to determine the latest version of the Edit Service client: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/321543
  2. Navigate to the new version of the Edit Service client. The default path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\IBM Content Navigator Edit\EditClient\
  3. Copy the edit.dat file.
  4. Replace the edit.dat file in the Edit Service client installations on other workstations with the file you copied in step 3.
  5. Restart the Edit Service clients.
Option 3: Use the following procedure to update an existing Windows Edit Service client installation with the SSL certificate that can be downloaded from Fix Central:
  1. Download the edit.dat file from the following location on Fix Central: https://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=Enterprise%20Content%20Management&product=ibm/Other+software/Content+Navigator&release=3.0.13&platform=Windows&function=fixId&fixids=NES-SSLCERT-WIN&includeSupersedes=0
  2. Replace the edit.dat file in the Edit Service client installations on other workstations with the file downloaded in Step 1. By default, the edit.dat file is in the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\IBM Content Navigator Edit\EditClient\
  3. Restart the Edit Service clients.
