SEIZEINFO issue

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

This document was created to avoid an issue with the Advanced Analysis (AA) macro SEIZEINFO.

Content

A system termination issue was discovered upon running either the SEIZEINFO Advanced Analysis (AA) macro or SERVICEDOCS Advanced Analysis (AA) macro.
Examples of when this issue can occur include while running a RGZPFM ALWCANCEL(*YES) or STRMNTBRM RGZBRMDB(*YES) function, which results in many seizes for the same address.
Since this was discovered with SI77696 applied, it has since been marked defective. The fixing PTF for IBM i 7.4 is SI78607 (immediate apply).  The most current DB group, DB2 Mirror group, and Performance levels include the fixing GA 7.4 PTF SI78607.
The following environment variable command can also be run to mitigate the RGZPFM issue if SI78607 has not been applied:
ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(QIBM_RGZPFM_MOVE_RCDS) VALUE('N') LEVEL(*SYS)
The SEIZEINFO or SERVICEDOCS issue can be prevented by applying the following PTF(s) associated with MA49489:
       V7R4: MF69518
       V7R3: MF69517
       V7R2: MF69516
Prior to the aforementioned fixing PTFs being available,  seize counts could be determined by applying the PTFs (which have enhanced TASKINFO information to allow sorting) listed below by release and following these steps:
    1) Apply the following PTFs by release.
        7.4 MF68954
        7.3 MF68878
        7.2 MF68953
    2) Enter System Service Tools (SST) within the partition, run AA macro TASKINFO -ALL -SORT 10
    3) The sort is in descending order. SERVICEDOCS or SEIZEINFO can be run if the highest lock/seize count is not over 35,000 (the first task/job that is listed).
Note: Ensure the most current version of QMGTOOLS is installed. It has been updated to prevent SERVICEDOCS from running within SYSSNAP and the RUNAA command (RUNAA has *SERVICEDDOC and *SEIZEINFO functions).
