Unsecured and anonymous FTP to upload IBM documentation will be disabled

Summary

Effective 31 August 2022, all uploads of documentation to both the IBM testcase and ecurep servers' /toibm and /fromibm directories will require an authenticated log in using an IBM Support File Transfer ID and password (token). In addition, a secure transport protocol, such as HTTPS, FTPS, or SFTP will need to be used to upload to the testcase and ecurep servers.

Steps

Authenticated log in with an IBM Support File Transfer ID and password (token) will be required, instead of anonymous and any password, to upload/download to the testcase and ecurep servers' /toibm and /fromibm directories.  In addition, only the use of secure protocols will be supported due to the disablement of unsecured plain FTP on the testcase and ecurep servers.

Changing from FTP to a secure transport protocol can be done at any time. The IBM testcase and ECuRep servers both currently support FTPS, SFTP and HTTPS protocols. PDUU (Problem Documentation Upload Utility) support for HTTPS was also made available on 23 May 2019 with APAR 0A55959. 

Recommended Actions:

Before IBM implements the changes on 31 August 2022, or the next time you need to send documentation to IBM: 
  1. Ensure you have secure transport protocols in place, such as HTTPS, FTPS, or SFTP, and procedures for using the secure transport, including updates to existing JCL, jobs, or tools including PDUU and z/OSMF.
  2. Create an IBM Support File Transfer ID. Links to create an IBM Support File Transfer ID and other related information on sending documentation to IBM is available at the FAQ page. Creating an IBM Support File Transfer ID requires an IBM ID.  If you need to create an IBM ID, follow instructions at https://www.ibm.com/account/us-en/signup/register.html.
  3. Change existing JCL, jobs, or tools including PDUU and z/OSMF to use the new IBM Support File Transfer ID and password (token) instead of anonymous and any password.
