Error description

  • In a Spectrum Scale Cluster and Spectrum Protect workload
we hit the assert "The assert subroutine failed:
!"More than 22 minutes searching for a free buffer in
     the pagepool", file
    ../../../../../../../src/avs/fs/mmfs/ts/bufmgr/bufmgr.C,
    line 668".
Increasing pagepool size does not fix the issue and
furthermore after a period of time 'NonStealable'
buffers are depleted and we hit the assert again.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in 5.1.2 PTF 2

    Benefits of the solution:
    Fixed this memory leak issue

    Work Around:
Change 'scatterBufferSize' config to a smaller size

    Problem trigger:
This problem is more likely to occur in a
cluster which has file systems with both
large block size and small block size
    (compared to scatter buffer size)
