What should we do when searchable variables exceed the limit of 1000?

Question & Answer

Question

At both Process Portal or Workplace, CP4BA uses elastic search to search for tasks and workflows.  However, there is a 1000 limit of elastic search on the number of searchable variables.  Due to this limitation, both BAW on premise and CP4BA on container could be impacted.    While user could easily exceed this limit if there is a large number of variables defined and exposed.   They could hit the following error message at PFS logs while doing searches at Workplace or Portal.
Example:
Message [ElasticsearchException[Elasticsearch exception [type=illegal_argument_exception, reason=Limit of total fields [1000] in index [icp4ba-pfs@j8g6y5-21je-45ef-717d-c1181af755s1] has been exceeded]]]
This error message often goes with a symptom that the search function is down.
What should we do to handle this exception and issue?
