PH42291: FREEZE JOBS MAY STILL CREATE A SET OF INCORRECT BITS DURING FLASH COPY JOB CREATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Not all code paths were corrected by apar PH15741, it was
  discovered that this job creation or update may not correctly
  set up the bits in line with the new Safe Guard copy
  specifications which will cause the FCM program fail with I/O
  ERROR. MSG FRMT = 0, MSG NMBR = 4, REAS: 00
  
  
  FCM Apar PH42291 - additional note
  A variation of this apar is still exposed to the issue and was
  recently reported. With PTF UI78254 applied on top of FCM 6.3.0
  The F1 dataset may still have an
  extraneous character in the parms that is now re-purposed for a
  SafeGuarded setting and no longer
  valid for Flash Copy configurations:
  
  in DATASET *.TEMPC.JOBS
  PARM='FCEST,F1=102E59
  
  the correct value can be found in the *.NEW.JOBS
  PARM='FCEST,F1=002E59
  
  The JCLS are copied from *.TEMPC.JOBS by the D@SWITCH JCL into
  *.NEW.JOBS
  PARM='FCEST,F1=102E59
  
  The first order byte needs to be set to 00 in order for the
  FlashCopy JOB to work correctly.
  
  Corrective action is not in plan at this time.  Clients should
  consider migrating their FlashCopy
  Management to the new Technical direction which is a product
  called Copy Services Manager.
  
  As of Copy Services Manager 6.2.10 support is available for
  loading a Flash copy session into
  the native zOS environment using a session property "z/OS
  Management option". Please see the IBM
  Copy Services Manager 6.2.10 and up documentation in Knowledge
  Center for more details.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• The incremental option may still set the incorrect bit for
  FLC establish.

• The correct bit order will be used during the job creation.
