Error description

  • "ls" hangs on certain files giving waiters such as:
SetXAttrHandlerThread: on ThCond 0x180C1DFFCE8
(LkObjCondvar), reason 'waiting for WW lock'

Reported in:
Spectrum Scale 5.1.1.1

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • While trying to set extended attributes, SetXAttrHandlerThread
could deadlock with itself trying to obtain a WW lock on the
buffer while holding XW lock.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • This problem is fixed in 5.1.2  PTF 2

Benefits of the solution:
Prevent deadlock in SetXAttrHandlerThread while
setting extended attribute.
