APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A timing problem can cause the system to crash if an
unconfiguration routine for a kernel extension unloads the
extension before an associated kproc has had a chance to exit.
This might occur if the kproc has a lower priority than the
    unconfiguration routine.

Problem summary

  • A timing problem can cause the system to crash if an
unconfiguration routine for a kernel extension unloads the
extension before an associated kproc has had a chance to exit.
This might occur if the kproc has a lower priority than the
    unconfiguration routine.

Problem conclusion

  • Add a dependency between a kproc and the kernel extension that
defines it. This will prevent the kernel extension from being
removed from memory until the kproc exists.
