JR54755: OPENSEQ WITH A PATH EXCEEDING THE OS MAXIMUM CAN TAKE A FAULT.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • OPENSEQ with a path exceeding the OS maximum can take a fault.

Local fix

  • Use a path length that is less than the OS maximum.

Problem summary

  • When attempting to use OPENSEQ on a path exceeding 256 bytes,
subsequent CREATE or WRITESEQ calls can take an access
violation/segmentation fault. This can affect parallel jobs
with long names when DS_PXDEBUG is set.

Problem conclusion

  • Fix error checking on file paths used by sequential I/O
    operations in BASIC code.

Temporary fix

  • Unset the DS_PXDEBUG environment variable or change it to zero.
