Problem
After you enable IBM Tivoli NetView for z/OS gatherer, Log Forwarder starts with the following error message:
HBOG021E The z/OS Log Forwarder cannot create a NetView PPI receiver with the name HBONETVC for the NetView for z/OS domain name NETVC. The return code value is 28.
In some cases, Log Forwarder issues the same message with rc=24
Cause
Tivoli NetView for z/OS PPI (Program to Program Interface) is not active or not fully operational
Diagnosing The Problem
Here is the meaning of the return codes mentioned under Problem section
Rc=24: The PPI is not active.
Rc=28: An active subsystem interface address space was found, but an active PPI address space was not found.
Resolving The Problem
For Log Forwarder NetView gatherer to fully initialize, Tivoli NetView for z/OS and more important, Tivoli NetView for z/OS PPI Startìed Task needs to be up and running.
Once Tivoli NetView for z/OS and Tivoli NetView for z/OS PPI are up and running and fully operational, in case you still see the error message plan the recycle of CDP started tasks
