Update to java version that only supports TLS 1.2 breaks reports in IBM DOORS Next

Troubleshooting


Problem

After updating to the latest IBM Java Group PTF level, running reports in IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next (RDNG) fails with error 400 and/or a "javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: No appropriate protocol (protocol is disabled or cipher suites are inappropriate)" error message occurs when using the TLSv1.0 and/or TLSv1.1 protocols.

Symptom

Running reports via DNG results in errors below:
WebUI:
Either the report never finishes.
Or user is presented with error 400 as below:
CRRRW7553E - A message that was received from the server indicates and error with no specific handler
Unable to load https://xxxx/rm/publish/print/module?resourceURI=https://xxxx/rm/resources/yyyy&formatURI=http://com.ibm.rdm/reports/formats/word&layoutURI=http://com.ibm.rdm/reports/layouts/book&attributeURI=_TTT&includeAttributes=true&maximiseEmbeds=false&minimizeEmbeds=false&DisplayBaseProperties=true&projectURI=https://xxx/rm/rm-projects/_AAAA/components/_BBBB&textDir= status 400
