Abstract
The focus of this paper is on managing work of a uni-processor system, an LPAR with access to a single engine, including the impact of looping or CPU-intensive tasks. The topics covered are:
- Changes in the MVS-ready dispatcher to help SRM run more work
- WLM policy practices and MVS settings to help manage this environment
- Application looping work and its impact on the system
- System type work, which is CPU-intensive at times
- z/OS functions, which override WLM assigned dispatching priorities
- New features of the EC/BC 12 that could impact performance
