Abstract

IBM will sunset the UK-based Assist OnSite server aos.uk.ihost.com on December 31, 2021

Description

AOS configuration will need to be changed before December 31, 2021, to add a new AOS server, aosrelay1.us.ihost.com, which is replacing aos.uk.ihost.com. 
The new server is currently operational.

Recommended Action

To maintain remote support capability, Customers who are using only the UK-based server, must reconfigure AOS before the end of 2021. Customers who have configured AOS to use the US-based aoshats.us.ihost.com, will not lose remote support capability, but should reconfigure AOS when convenient, to preserve or restore redundancy.

Customers who restrict outbound TCP port 443 access by destination IP address, will also need to update their firewall rules, to include the "aosrelay1.us.ihost.com" destination IP address.

IBM offers the PFE_FixAOS_Consolidated_v1.3 ICS disk, to perform the necessary changes on DS8000 HMCs. This ICS content is also contained in the PFE_CCL_PreCheck_v1.3 ICS for DS8880, and PFE_DS8900_CCL_PreCheck_v1.4 for DS8900, which are used prior to performing any onsite or remote code updates.  

The ICS disk will need to be installed on all DS8000 systems that are using HMC-based AOS for remote support.  Customers may also reconfigure the AOS broker list manually, using the DS8000 WUI "customer" login.  Select "HMC Management" then "Manage AOS". Change "aos.uk.ihost.com\:443" to "aosrelay1.us.ihost.com\:443".
Note: This only applies to HMCs that have Domain Name Servers configured. Customers who prefer their HMCs to not use DNS, will need to install the ICS disk.

The ICS disk does not apply for Customers that are using external AOS "jump" servers. External AOS servers will need to be reconfigured manually, by the server administrator.
