Installing Birt-report-designer-all-in-one-4.8 to use with Maximo® 7.6.1.2

Summary

Maximo 7.6.1.2 uses Java 8.
The Report Designer for Birt® 4.3.1 runs on Java 7.
Some customers might not be able to download or run Java 7 so running Eclipse 4.3.1 might be impossible.

It is possible to use the Birt® Report Designer 4.8 with Maximo® 7.6.1.2 as it runs on Java 8.

You can use the Install instructions for the Birt® Designer 4.3.1 but some items are different.

(Sections in the guide D & E are not required)

2.1 Download Designer - Get the All-in-one version.
Extract to folder with no spaces (\birt48).
If Maximo is 7.6.1 or greater, then you need the updated Scripts and the latest drivers for Oracle® & SQL server.

A) script classes -> (This comes from the link).
Copy this folder to the Eclipse directory. This creates a new classes sub folder.
<birt_431>\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.viewer_4.8.0.v201806261756\birt\WEB-INF

B. JDBC drivers
Copy the drivers to the following folder.
<birt_48>\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.viewer_4.8.0.v201806261756\birt\WEB-INF\lib
C.Open the database driver file you copied and extract the contents of the driver to the web-inf/classes folder.

Be sure that you point the shortcut you make to Java 8.
My shortcut example.
C:\Maximo\eclipse4.8\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm "C:\Program Files\IBM\Java80\jre\bin\javaw.exe" -vmargs -Xmx512m
Open Eclipse
A. Under Preferences, Resources select the Report Libraries
B. Do the same for Templates.
