Abstract
IBM has identified that drives for the MES may be shipped with an incorrect format. Adding incorrectly formatted drives to an existing recovery group will fail and may make the recovery group unavailable creating a loss of access.

Users Affected:
All versions of ESS 3000 that support MES operation (ESS 6.0.0.0 to ESS 6.0.2.2 and ESS 6.1.0.0 to 6.1.1.1).
Problem determination and corrective action:
Before adding the MES drives to the recovery group, verify that the drives are the correct format. Reformat the drives to the correct format if they are not correctly formatted before proceeding. Instructions and detailed step-by-step instructions are provided in the following links:
