Clarify Sending Log File Agent Events using SSL with Event Integration Facilty (EIF)

How To

Summary

When configuring the Log File Agent to send events with the Event Integration Facility (EIF) using SSL, the ConnectionMode is required to be connection_oriented (or co) in the configuration file (.conf file). The keyword ServerSSL=YES must also be specified in the file, for example:

ServerLocation=<hostname of remote EIF receiver>
ServerPort=<port number EIF receiver is using>
ConnectionMode=co
ServerSSL=YES

Note: An EIF receiver that supports TLS/SSL communication is required. The Netcool/OMNIBus EIF receiver probe does not directly support TLS/SSL communication as documented: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/IV68036
The Tivoli EIF MUX is an example of an EIF receiver which can be used to receive messages via SSL/TLS and then forward to the Netcool/OMNIBus EIF receiver probe.
