Summary
As IBM continues to deliver new, innovative and powerful servers to our clients, we also continue to focus on improving the reliability and availability of current generations of Power Systems servers. IBM continually monitors machine performance to identify improvement opportunities for our clients.
We have identified a set of machine type 9009 systems, model 22G, 41G and 42G that may have an Update Access Key (UAK) expiration date which does not reflect the full duration of the base warranty period of 3-years. The UAK loaded during the system manufacturing test may be shorter than the 3-year base warranty period which could cause an issue if an attempt is made to update the system firmware. This issue will not affect system performance in any way and does not affect the actual system warranty.
Steps
- Go to IBM ESS Screen and sign in using your IBM ID: www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/ess
- Select “My entitled hardware”
- Select “UAK – View, Download, and Request Keys”
- Enter ‘Machine Type’ and ‘Machine Serial’
- OR
- Select “Browse No file selected” and attach a listing of servers and select “Upload” to show the updated UAK
- Enter ‘Machine Type’ and ‘Machine Serial’
- Select appropriate option—"Download Keys” or “Send as e-mail”, or simply cut and paste the new UAK/s to be applied to the effected server/s.
