Can Perl be updated or removed on PowerVM Virtual I/O Server?

Cause

Security vulnerability scan on PowerVM Virtual I/O Server is flagging Perl, but the ioslevel is already at the latest version, 3.1.2.21 as of the time of this writing:
  perl.libext        2.4.5.0    C     F    Perl Library Extensions
  perl.rte          5.28.1.4    C     F    Perl Version 5 Runtime
Can Perl be updated or removed from the Virtual I/O Server?

Answer

Perl is intended for sole use by the operating system.
It is not supported to uninstall or remove any software packaged with the Virtual I/O Server unless advised by Support.
It is supported to update Perl to address  security vulnerabilities.
