How to create an Alert that notifies when an IBM Security Guardium Installation Manager (GIM) agent is down?

How To

Summary

The IBM Security Guardium™ implements a very handy alerting feature that can be used to generate notifications when a certain event is detected.

The product works with two different types of alerts:

* Real-time alerts, generated by the Sniffer during the DAM (Database Activity Monitoring) traffic processing.

* Correlation alerts, generated by the scheduled execution of a Query/Report, analyzing then comparing the output with a defined configurable condition when, if being met, triggers the alert.

This document describes the use case of creating a correlation alert so that you can get a notification when one of the GIM agents is identified as being inactive (its administrative status is marked as "state=DOWN").
