User is not able to open Notebooks or RStudio when the project assets volume goes full in asset-files-api pod

Troubleshooting


Problem

I am not able to open Notebooks and it gets lost even after increasing the volume size. I am getting errors like "500 internal server errors" or  "Notebook does not appear to be JSON".

In RStudio you might see "RStudio was unable to autosave this file", or the environment might keep restarting.

Created Notebooks are not being saved either.

Also for some occurrences when I try to create new Notebook, I get an error like  "500: Notebook can't be created"

Symptom

The asset-file-api log will show errors like below:
Uncaught exception encountered:
Error: ENOSPC: no space left on device, close
