APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When applying a PTF update to an NDI installation location as a
non-root user, file permission errors when attempting to update
the XL C++ Runtime files causes the update to fail.

The issue appears to be some XL C++ Runtime files with '444',
i.e. "-r--r--r--" permission.

Local fix

  • - switch to the root user to apply the NDI PTF update
- temporarily change permission of the affected files to 644
prior to applying the PTF

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
Users who are trying to install a PTF update to an NDI location
might be affected by this issue.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The necessary permissions were not being applied to the C++
Runtime files causing an error during installation.

Problem conclusion

  • The NDI scripts have now been modified to account for this
error.
