Cognos Analytic expressions which push to several vendors may decompose with Google BigQuery

Troubleshooting

Problem

Reports and models include expressions that Cognos Analytics is able include in SQL statements sent to various database vendors. When those applications are migrated to Google BigQuery, some decomposition and local processing can occur.

Symptom

Cognos Analytics is aware of the SQL capabilities of database products. When a vendor does not support specific constructs or has limitations in their implementation, Cognos Analytics compensate using local processing. This may result in queries retrieving more data and taking more time than is observed with other vendors.
