This MustGather document was written to provide two videos to assist AIX administrators collect data needed when opening a support case with AIX System Performance Team. These accompany the primary document "AIX MustGather: System Performance Analysis"
Objective
Gathering the right information before calling IBM support might shorten the time it takes to resolve the performance issue. The AIX System Performance Analysis team requires at least two pieces of information when diagnosing a AIX System Performance issue:
The description must be more than a single sentence. You should describe in reasonable detail the area of where you are seeing the bottleneck, how this is affecting your system and the broad environment the problem is being seen. Our analysis will be as general - or as specific - as you define your performance issue to us. A non-specific description of "poor performance" might result in only "general recommendations" from IBM; some of which can be of value but not of direct relevance to your specific issue.

These videos should be watched alongside the primary document AIX MustGather: System Performance Analysis
This first video covers the initial problem description we will need to support any performance data that is sent into IBM support. This includes the nature of the performance issue, the frequency, the environment and other important facts. A problem well stated - is a problem half solved. This is why this first step is as important as any data you send. Every fully defined and described problem description contains within itself the seeds of its own solution.

This second video covers the perfpmr.sh data collection IBM needs for any AIX performance issue - how to download the perfpmr.sh script and also how to run the script. This video also contains a short demonstration of the perfpmr.sh script running and the files it produces.
