PROBLEM:
When a z/OS User updates the IBM Host On-demand from version 14.0.2.0 to the most recent Refresh Pack version 14.0.3.0, the Service Manager fails to start.
CAUSE:
The content in files setInstPath.sh and ServiceManager.sh are not in a readable format.
This issue is due to an existing defect in IBM Host On-Demand version 14.0.2.0 that restricts the modification of the file 'setInstPath.sh' during the upgrade.
WORKAROUND:
Below are 3 possible workarounds to resolve this issue.
Solution 1: Replace the 'setInstPath.sh' and 'ServiceManager.sh' files in v14.0.3.0 with backed-up copies from v14.0.2.0 library.
Save a copy of the existing files (setInstPath.sh and ServiceManager.sh) from the Host On-Demand version 14.0.2.0 before initiating the update. After the successful update of IBM Host On-Demand to version 14.0.3.0, replace the new setInstPath.sh and ServiceManager.sh files with the backup files copied from the v14.0.2.0 library.
Locations of files to backup
setInstPath.sh (Host On-Demand publish directory).
ServiceManager.sh (Host On-Demand private directory).
Note: If you were not able to save a copy of the mentioned .sh files, you may download them from the attached zip. Extract the zipped file and place both the files in their corresponding locations as mentioned above.
Solution 2: Rollback to a previous v14.0.x.0 version before upgrading to v14.0.3.0
Before upgrading Host On-Demand from version 14.0.2.0 to version 14.0.3.0, roll back to a previous base version, 14.0.x.0, and then upgrade to the latest refresh pack version, 14.0.3.0, from version 14.0.0.0 or 14.0.1.0.
Solution 3: Use the full installer of Host On-Demand v14.0.3.0
You can upgrade from Host On-Demand v14.0.2.0 to v14.0.3.0 using the full installer disk.
In IBM Installation Manager, select the repositories for both v14.0.2.0 and v14.0.3.0, and proceed with the Install option for a successful installation of Host On-Demand version 14.0.3.0.
