Error description
When an error occurs that results in a DFHZC2426 E message a DFH2426 message is displayed on the terminal. The DFH2426 message predates the DFHZC2426 message and has been output at terminals going back to CICS Version 1. . This APAR is to update the Knowledge Center entry for DFHZC2426 to note that DFH2426 is output at the terminal and to improve the message explanation. The User Response for DFHZC2426 currently states: . ' If the node is out of service, the master terminal operator should place the node back into service.' . It does not say anything about checking the TTISTATUS. A common cause of the DFHZC2426 message being put out is the terminal associated with the error message has a TTISTATUS of NOTTI. The TTISTATUS specifies whether the terminal is to be available for use by transactions that are initiated from this terminal. . The APAR would add explanation that a TTISTATUS of NOTTI indicates the TERMINAL is receive only and advise that the TTI attribute in the TYPETERM definition should be checked. . Local fix
Set TTI=YES or TTISTATUS(TTI) on the terminals who are incurring the DFHZC2426E message

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The explanation of message DFHZC2426 * * on the Knowledge Center does not * * contain enough information to assist * * the user to recover from the situation * * which caused it to be issued. * **************************************************************** The explanation for Message DFHZC2426 does not offer clear enough advice on how to resolve the error condition it was issued for. Additionally it includes a suggestion to research the meaning of sense data, which can be confusing if there is no sense data present in the message text. msgdfhzc2426 zc2426 dfh2426
Problem conclusion
DFHZC2426 has been amended to make the explanation clearer. IBM Documentation for CICS TS for z/OS 5.6 will be updated as follows for message DFHZC2426: Explanation Input was received from a node that is identified as either output-only or as permanently out of service. CEMT INQUIRE TERMINAL(termid) returns a TTISTATUS of NOTTI for an output-only node. If any sense data appears in the message, see message DFHZC2400 for its meaning. System action For an output-only node, message DFH2426I is sent to the node. All outstanding send and receive requests are purged. If a task is attached, it is abnormally terminated with a transaction dump. User response If the node is out of service, issue CEMT SET TERMINAL(termid) INSERVICE from another terminal to place the node back into service. If the terminal is output-only, issue CEMT SET TERMINAL(termid) TTI from another terminal to allow transactions to be initiated from the node and check that TTI(YES) is specified in the TYPETERM definition used to install the TERMINAL.
