OpenSSL vulnerabilities were disclosed by the OpenSSL Project. OpenSSL is used by IBM SDK for Node.js for IBM Cloud. This product has addressed the applicable CVEs. Node.js (Update 4-Jan-2021 and 23-Feb-2021) security releases are available.

DESCRIPTION: OpenSSL is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a NULL pointer dereference. If the GENERAL_NAME_cmp function contain an EDIPARTYNAME, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the application to crash.

Affected Products and Versions
All supported versions (10.x, 12.x, and 14.x) of Node.js are vulnerable.
Through the command-line Cloud Foundry client run the following command:
cf ssh <appname> -c “cat app/logs/staging_task.log” | grep “Installing node”

Alternatively, through the command-line Cloud Foundry client run the following command:
$ cf ssh <appname> -c “cat app/logs/staging_task.log” | grep “IBM SDK for Node.js”
-----> IBM SDK for Node.js Buildpack v4.6-20210305-2036
If the Buildpack version is not at least v4.6 your application may be vulnerable.
Remediation/Fixes
The fixes for these vulnerabilities are included in Node.js v10.24.0 and subsequent releases.
The fixes for these vulnerabilities are included in Node.js v12.21.0 and subsequent releases.
The fixes for these vulnerabilities are included in Node.js v14.16.0 and subsequent releases.
To upgrade to the latest version of the Node.js runtime, please specify the latest Node.js runtime in your package.json file for your application:

You will then need to restage (or re-push) your application using the IBM SDK for Node.js Buildpack v4.6.
