PH35030: ABEND SA78 WITH MULTI-VOLUME TEMPORARY CONTROL FILE

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer is performing LOAD processing an using a CONTROL file
  allocated as a temporary data set via a DD statement.
  The file extends to secondary volumes and the process abends
  with:
  
  CEE3250C The system or user abend SA78  R=00000010 was issued.

Problem summary

  Processing does not account for multi-volume temporary data sets
  used as CONTROL files.
  

Problem conclusion

• Optim processing has been corrected. Note that there is a limit
  of maximum 5 volumes which may be occupied by/allocated to a
  temporary CONTROL data set.
  The following error will be presented in the Process Report when
  the maximum has been exceeded:
  "Control File Is Not Built or has Invalid Format or Allocation"
