Release Integrated File System Locked Files

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document gives suggestions for releasing Integrated File System locks.

Resolving The Problem

Things that can be done to attempt to release a lock on an Integrated File System file include:

o

Perform a Release Integrated File System Lock (RLSIFSLCK) command against the file.

Example

RLSIFSLCK OBJ('rjzeller/custcdt.txt')

where the OBJ parameter is the full path to the object.
o Ensure it is not IBM Domino related. Domino puts locks on their files, which may be released by resetting the Domino server.
o In extreme cases, especially if the PC was abnormally disconnected or the Host job servicing the requests was ended abnormally, the V-Node chain can become corrupted and then an IPL is necessary before the lock is released.
