Troubleshooting
Problem
This document explains how to determine when the last SAVSYS was run on a system. It also contains a table of the data areas to determine when other save/restore commands were run on the system.
Resolving The Problem
The information that pertains to the last time SAVSYS was performed on a system is kept in data area QSYS/QSAVSYS. To determine the last time SAVSYS was done on a system, on the IBM OS/400 or IBM i5/OS command line type the following:
DSPOBJD QSAVSYS *DTAARA DETAIL(*FULL)
Press the Enter key. Page down to the last page to see the last save (and restore) date/time information. A sample of this information follows:
Display Object Description - Full
| Object . . . . . . . : QSAVSYS | Attribute . . . . . : |
| Library . . . . . : QSYS | Owner . . . . . . . : QSYS |
| Type . . . . . . . . : *DTAARA | Primary group . . . : *NONE |
| Save/Restore information: | |
| Save date/time . . . . . . . . . . : | 07/05/00 10:15:11 |
| Restore date/time . . . . . . . . : | |
| Save command . . . . . . . . . . . : | SAVSYS |
| Device type . . . . . . . . . . . : | Tape |
| Sequence number . . . . . . . . . : | 1 |
| Volumes . . . . . . . . . . . . . : | IBMIRD |
| File label ID . . . . . . . . . . : | QFILEIML |
| Save format . . . . . . . . . . . : | Serial |
Following are other data areas that the system uses to maintain last save information for various other general save/restore commands:
| Data Area Name | Purpose |
| QSAVALLUSR | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVLIB/RSTLIB LIB(*ALLUSR) |
| QSAVCFG | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVCFG/RSTCFG |
| QSAVIBM | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVLIB/RSTLIB LIB(*IBM) |
| QSAVLIBALL | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVLIB/RSTLIB LIB(*NONSYS) |
| QSAVSTG - V7R1 and earlier (See note 4) | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVSTG/DST RESTORE STORAGE |
| QSAVSYS | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVSYS |
| QSAVUSRPRF | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVSYS/SAVSECDTA/RSTUSRPRF |
| QSYSINF | S/R DIRECTORY INFO FOR SAVSYSINF (Available beginning at V5R4) |
Notes:
1. If UPDHST(*NO) is specified, the server does not update the Date last saved field in the object or the data area.
2. If the command DSPDTAARA is used for one of the data areas listed, the data area is blank. You must use a command similar to DSPOBJD OBJ(data_area_name) OBJTYPE(*DTAARA) DETAIL(*FULL) to determine when the data was last saved.
3. When a SAVSYS is run, the history information for the data area QSAVUSRPRF in QSYS is updated with the date, time, and place where user profiles are saved. The history information for the data area QSAVSYS in QSYS is updated with the date, time, and place where the system is saved. The history information for the data area QSAVCFG in QSYS is updated with the date, time, and place where configuration objects are saved. The history information is not updated for the individual objects.
4. As the SAVSTG command was removed from the i Operating System at V7R2, the QSAVSTG data area no longer exists on systems that run V7R2 and later.
