Abstract

Potential DS8900F Data Loss during a system power outage, without graceful shutdown.

Description

A very small timing window has been identified where volatile write cache may not be preserved during a sudden power down of the DS8900F system (system power outage without graceful shutdown).

Recommended Action

Potential Mitigation:

Ensure DS8900F system power cords are properly connected to fully redundant UPS-protected power.

Fix:

Update to R9.1 SP2 – 89.12.8.0 or higher.

Note: This update will require approximately 1 additional hour, per processor node, than the usual bundle update.
