Resolving The Problem
Why is everything entered on a command line showing as uppercase characters?
The user profiles have the 'Special environment' parameter set to *SYSVAL. To check this, you would do a DSPUSRPRF for a user profile and page down to the 'Special environment' parameter. If this is *SYSVAL, then System value QSPCENV is set to *S36. To check this, you would do a WRKSYSVAL QSPCENV and hit enter, then a 5 to display it. This will show as *S36. In the IBM System/36 environment, everything is shown in uppercase. Users can toggle between ENDS36 and STRS36 to see the commands change from uppercase to uppercase and lowercase. If you do not use the system 36 environment on your system, you would want to change the QSPCENV system value to *NONE or change the user profile's 'Special environment' to be *NONE.
