Troubleshooting
Problem
Your webservice application returns EIBRESP 13 and EIBRESP2 20 for an EXEC CICS WEB OPEN command in a CICS Transaction Server for z/OS. You recently changed your URIMAP to reflect a hostname in the HOST attribute of the URIMAP. When you set the value to an IP address it works correctly. You would like to understand why you are getting the error RESP=13 RESP2=20.
Symptom
You turn on CICS auxtrace (or take a dump of the problem) with components EI=(1-2), AP=(1-2), PI(1-2), SO(1-2), and WB (1-2) using CETR and the programmer ran the transaction. You see the following trace entries indicating that the WEB OPEN did not complete successfully:
AP F911 EIWB EXIT - WEB_OPEN RESP=13 RESP2=20
AP 00E1 EIP EXIT WEB-OPEN NOTFND
Cause
- 13 NOTFND
-
- 20
- Host name is not resolved by name server or the format of the host option is incorrect.
- When you look at the dump (or trace) of the problem you see that the those return codes are preceded by a TCPIP call that fails with a return code 78AE1004 which indicates that the DNS name cannot be resolved.
