    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After a rename, a file reported *
    *                      incorrect filesize characteristics.     *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    In the process of renaming a file
    (from its source name to its target name),
    it is determined that the target name corresponds
    to an existing file that is opened. The target file is given a
    "hidden rename", meaning when the target file is closed it will
    be removed. The NFS-generated hidden name was mistakenly
    assigned to the SOURCE file, and so at its own closure, all
    cached data (including its size) was lost and the SOURCE file
    removed.

Problem conclusion

  • A hidden rename for delayed file removal was incorrectly
    assigned to the wrong file.
