What is it?
The IWS client library has been enhanced to support TLSv1.13 in the Axis C core APIs and Axis C++ core APIs.
A new parameter has been added after the parameter for the fully qualified domain name parameter. The parameter is a pointer to a null-terminated character string indicating whether to enable or disable the TLSv1.3 ciphers. A value of "NONE" disables the ciphers; any other value enables the ciphers. By default, the TLSv1.3 ciphers are enabled.
Note that only IBM i 7.3 and 7.4 support TLS v1.3. In order to get TLS v1.3 support on i 7.3, you need to follow these instructions.
Why use it?
TLSv1.3 is enabled by default. If you want to ensure that it is used, or for some reason you want to disable it, you have the ability to do so.
Availability
The support is enabled in the following HTTP group PTFs:
SF99722 Level 28 V7R3M0
SF99662 Level 09 V7R4M0
