Collection Services Properties Are Changing Unexpectedly

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document describes how to determine why Collection Services properties might be changing unexpectedly though the use of audit control.

Symptom

Unexpected configuration changes

Resolving The Problem

To determine how the properties of collection services are being changed, auditing for *USRSPC QUSRSYS/QPFRCOLDTA must be set up. If it is not possible to determine where the changes to the collection services properties are originating, this type of auditing can verify who is making the changes. To run the audit, do the following:

1On the IBM® OS/400® or IBM® i5/OS® command line, type the following:

WRKSYSVAL QAUDCTL

Select Option 5 to display the value. If this value does not have *OBJAUD specified, press F12 and select Option 2 to change it to use *OBJAUD.
2On the OS/400 or i5/OS command line, type the following:

CHGOBJAUD OBJ(QUSRSYS/QPFRCOLDTA) OBJTYPE(*USRSPC) OBJAUD(*ALL)

Press the Enter key.
3Re-create the problem.
4On the OS/400 or i5/OS command line, type the following:

DSPAUDJRNE ENTTYP(ZC)

Press the Enter key.
5To determine if auditing is currently running for object QUSRSYS/QPFRCOLDTA, on the OS/400 or i5/OS command line type the following:

DSPOBJD OBJ(QUSRSYS/QPFRCOLDTA) OBJTYPE(*USRSPC)

Press the Enter key.
