Monitoring for Messages with Advanced Job Scheduler

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document describes how to monitor for messages with the Advanced Job Scheduler.

Resolving The Problem

Each command in the command list of a job can have message identifiers that will be used for monitoring. When the job runs and an error message is issued that matches one of the messages entered for the selected command, the job logs the error but continues processing with the next command in the list.

To add a specific message identifier to monitor for to a command, do the following:
1. Select Work Management in Navigator for i, then Advanced Job Scheduler, then Scheduled jobs
2. Right-click the Scheduled job in question and select Properties
3. Highlight the command sequence that you want to monitor for a specific message id, then right click it and select Properties
4. At the bottom of the screen is 'Messages to monitor'
5. Type in the message ID you want to monitor and click Add.
6. Select OK on the Command Properties  box, then select OK on the Scheduled Job Properties to save the message monitor.

Note: If zeros are specified in two or all four of the right-most positions (for example, xxx0000), a generic message identifier is specified. For example, if CPF0000 is specified, all the CPF* messages are monitored. If CPF1200 is specified, all CPF12* messages will be monitored.
