Monitoring Job Activity for the Advanced Job Scheduler

Problem

This document describes how to view job activity using the Advanced Job Scheduler.

Resolving The Problem

The Advanced Job Scheduler, AJS, allows you to view the activity for your job through the following ways:

Scheduled Job Activity

The scheduled job activity allows you to specify how long the Advanced Job Scheduler activity records are retained. The possible values are 1 to 999 days or occurrences. You can specify to keep activity for a certain number of days or for a certain number of occurrences per job. The following details about a scheduled job are displayed:
o Name
The name of the scheduled job
o Group
The name of the job group for the job
o Sequence
The sequence number of the job within the group, if the job is in a job group
o Completion Status
The status of the job
o Started
When the job started running
o Ended
When the job ended
o Elapsed Time
The amount of time in hours and minutes the job took to process

To specify the activity retention via IBM Navigator for i, do the following:
1. Select Work Management.
2. Expand Advanced Job Scheduler.
3. Select Scheduled Job Activity and select the Properties tab.

To view the scheduled job activity details via IBM Navigator for i, do the following:
1. Select Work Management.
2. Expand Advanced Job Scheduler.
3. Select Scheduled Job Activity.

To view the scheduled job activity for a specific job via IBM Navigator for i, do the following:
1. Select Work Management.
2. Expand Advanced Job Scheduler.
3. Select Scheduled jobs.
4. Right-click on the Job Name whose activity you want to display, and select Activity.

Activity Log

The activity log displays activity within the scheduler such as a job added, changed, or submitted.  Security violations, sequences processed by a scheduled job, and any errors received are displayed.  The dates and times for the previous activities are also displayed.  To view detailed message information, double-click on a date and time.

To view the activity log details via IBM Navigator for i, do the following:
1. Select Work Management.
2. Expand Advanced Job Scheduler.
3. Select Activity Log. In the pop up box, fill in the pop up box with selection criteria you would like to see.

To view the activity log for a specific job via IBM Navigator for i, do the following:
1. Select Work Management.
2. Expand Advanced Job Scheduler.
3. Select Scheduled jobs.
4. Right-click on the Job Name whose activity log you want to display, and select Activity log.
