Problem
Review Red Alert published April 2021 for updated information
Due to an error in the PTF Build process, some PTFs were shipped with extraneous data. The additional data can cause LINK EDIT, IEBCOPY, and SMP/E errors during APPLY processing. This error affects PTF service orders from 4 December 2020 through 10 December 2020. There is no other system impact other than being unable to APPLY the PTF. Affected customers are advised to reorder the PTFs and redo the APPLY.
Symptom
APPLY fails with messages such as:
IEW2690E 3530 ONE OR MORE FIELD DESCRIPTORS IN GOFF RECORD rrr WITHIN MEMBER xxxxxx NOT VALID. ERRORID = 12.
IEW2307E 1032 CURRENT INPUT MODULE NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE OF INVALID DATA.
IGW01513T RECFM INCOMPATIBLE -- INPUT RECFM = FB OUTPUT RECFM = U

Cause
An error in the PTF supply chain accidentally added extraneous data to parts shipped in some PTFs. This process was corrected and all affected PTFs were reloaded on 10 December 2020.
Environment
All z/OS customer who placed service orders between 4 December 2020 through 10 December 2020.
Diagnosing The Problem
If you are attempting an APPLY and receiving message such as IEW2690E, IEW2307E, IGW01513T, then review if the PTF identified was ordered between 4 December 2020 through 10 December 2020.
Resolving The Problem
- Reorder any PTFs that were originally ordered during 4 December 2020 through 10 December 2020
- Redo the APPLY.
