Physical DataPower Upgrade to 10.0.0.0 / 10.0.1.0 / 2018.4.1.12 / 2018.4.1.13 encounters network issues

Troubleshooting

Problem

When upgrading a physical appliance (non-virtual) to fixpacks 10.0.0.0, 10.0.1.0, 2018.4.1.12 or 2018.4.1.13, unexpected network issues occur.  These range from unexpected timeouts, link loss and/or issues with standby control.

Symptom

The four port 10gb modules interfaces eth20 through eth23 will go link state down.
The switch connected to these four ports may report:
DataPower-5k %ETHPORT-5-IF_DOWN_ERROR_DISABLED: Interface Ethernet1/38 is down (Error disabled. Reason:DCX-No ACK in 100 PDUs)
or
Eth1/40 TEST  dcxNoACKi 203 full 10G 10Gbase-SR
Another method to confirm this is the source of the network outage is simply disable LLDP on the switch port or you could use a command similar to:
show lldp traffic int ethx/xx
If the total frames received does NOT increment then the DataPower eth20/21/22/23 interface is NOT responding and the switch will mark the port down.
