WRKFCNUSG and Application Administration for FTP

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document describes the usage of WRKFCNUSG and Application Administration for FTP.

Resolving The Problem

You can use Application Administration with the IBM® i5/OS® to administer security for your i5/OS FTP server or client. This process is done through IBM® iSeries™ Navigator by right-clicking on the system and selecting Application Administration from that context menu. Using Application Administration, you can allow or deny users or groups of users from FTPing into or out of your system. Also, you can allow or deny users or groups of users from using particular FTP client or server commands, such as LS, PUT, RCMD, and so on.

An example of this follows:

This is a picture of iSeries Navigator showing cutomization for FTP using application administration.

This can also be done via the WRKFCNUSG command on your operating system command line. Following is an example of the WRKFCNUSG for FTP client and server security:

This is a picture of the same information provided using 5250 WRKFCNUSG.

You can see that various Function IDs are associated with certain FTP client/server Function names. By selecting Option 2 next to any of these functions, you can add users to an Allowed or Denied list. By selecting Option 5 next to any of these functions, you can view the users that are Allowed or Denied from using these functions.
