Disabling Opportunistic Locking

Troubleshooting


Problem

This document describes the steps to disable the opportunistic locking function, which was added at V5R4.

Resolving The Problem

To disable the opportunistic locking function, which was added at V5R4, do the following:

  1. Open Navigator for i.
  2. Navigate to "IBM i NetServer" (Network > Servers > TCP/IP).
  3. Right-click "IBM i NetServer" in Navigator for i then select Properties.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. Click the Next Start button.
  6. Clear the Allow Opportunistic Locking option.

  7. Click OK to close the Advanced properties, and then close the "IBM i NetServer Properties" window by clicking OK in that window.
  8. The IBM i NetServer will not use opportunistic locking the next time it is started. For the change to take effect immediately, the IBM i NetServer must be restarted. Do one of the following:
      - Right-click "IBM i NetServer" and select Stop.
      - Right-click "IBM i NetServer" and select Reset and Start.
    Or from an IBM i command line:
      - ENDTCPSVR *NETSVR
      - STRTCPSVR *NETSVR
