C/C++ Code Considerations With 64-bit WebSphere Application Server for z/OS

White Papers

Abstract

WebSphere Application Server for z/OS supported 64-bit addressing in version 6.1.0.4. Changing over to that run mode is almost as simple as setting a configuration switch. While most J2EE compliant Java applications are immediately ready to run in 64-bit mode, care is probably necessary to migrate native code applications. This paper considers coding techniques for C/C++ applications that help move application systems over to 64-bit mode in a way that allows for a migration period of running applications in either mode and avoids added maintenance costs due to duplicate source code files.
