Summary

This document contains sample jobs that can be used to install WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V8.5.5.

Objective

The attached file contains a set of sample jobs for installing IBM WebSphere Application Serve V8.5.5 on z/OS. These jobs present current best practices for product install, and will eventually be incorporated into the SBBOJCL library of WebSphere Application Server V8.5 (5655-W65).

Edit and submit this file as a batch job to place the sample jobs into a partitioned data set. See member BBO$INDX for an index.

 Note: These jobs require a minimum Installation Manager level of 1.9.0.

Jobs have been added for Java 11, Java 17, Java 21, and Java 25 installation on WebSphere Liberty.

All samples have been updated to follow current IBM recommendations:

  • Default Installation Manager location is /global/instmgr.
  • All repositories are in /global/instmgr.
  • All products are installed under /global/instmgr/products.
  • Credentials files are stored in each user's home directory.

An index and several new jobs have been added, along with a complete set of sample jobs utilizing a "portable install" layout which can be moved from one z/OS system to another while remaining serviceable with IBM Installation Manager.
