This document contains sample jobs that can be used to install WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V9.

Objective

 WebSphere Application Server V9.0 Sample Installation Jobs for z/OS 

The attached file contains a set of sample jobs for installing IBM WebSphere Application Serve V9.0 and WebSphere Liberty on z/OS. These jobs are also contained in the SBBOJCL library of WebSphere Application Server V9.0 (5655-WAS); they are provided here for customers who wish to install WebSphere Application Server V9.0 on z/OS without using SMP/E.

Edit and submit this file as a batch job to place the sample jobs into a partitioned data set.

 Note: These jobs require a minimum Installation Manager level of 1.9.0.

Updated: March 14, 2025

Jobs have been added for Java 11, Java 17, and Java 21 installation on WebSphere Liberty.

All samples have been updated to follow current IBM recommendations:

  • Default Installation Manager location is /global/instmgr.
  • All repositories are in /global/instmgr.
  • All products are installed under /global/instmgr/products.
  • Credentials files are stored in each user's home directory.

An index and several new jobs have been added, along with a complete set of sample jobs utilizing a "portable install" layout which can be moved from one z/OS system to another while remaining serviceable with IBM Installation Manager.
