Summary
This document contains sample jobs that can be used to install and manage Installation Manager 1.9.0 (and above) as well as install and manage packages using IM.
Objective
The attached file contains a set of sample jobs for using IBM Installation Manager on z/OS. These jobs are also contained in the SGINJCL library of the IBM Installation Manager install kit (5655-IMZ); they are provided here for those customers who choose to download the install kit from ibm.com rather than installing it with SMP/E.
Edit and submit this file as a batch job to place the sample jobs into a partitioned data set. See member GIN$INDX for an index.
Updated: October 24, 2024
A new job, GIN2UPGD, has been added to support Installation Manager upgrade from Version 1.9.x to Version 1.10. This job can also be used to reinstall Installation Manager binaries if they have been damaged.
All samples have been updated to follow current IBM recommendations:
- Default Installation Manager location is /global/instmgr.
- All repositories are in /global/instmgr.
- All products are installed under /global/instmgr/products.
- Credentials files are stored in each user's home directory.
An index and several new jobs have been added, along with a complete set of sample jobs utilizing a "portable install" layout which can be moved from one z/OS system to another while remaining serviceable with IBM Installation Manager.
