    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Panel fabzps12 shows a list of partitions, the user selects one.
The key in aiding this selection decision is the 'partition hi k
ey' value , which is displayed for each partition. Currently,
only the character representation of the key is displayed, but
for some keys,a hex display of this value would be better. the
solution is to show both. the key is stored in the recons, but
there is no information there indicating whether the user
entered it in char or hex, so DBR will show both. there is a
limitation to this solution. keys can be up to 255 chars.
the TBDISPLAY function which displays each partition's keys
has limits regarding the size of displayed fields. with these
limitations and the goal to show both the char and hex keys,
the size of the displayed keys is limited to 136 bytes, a
text field on the panel will indicate if this truncation is
    in effect.

Problem conclusion

  • There is a need to show both the char and hex keys in this panel
The fact that keys can be 255 chars, and the fact that TBDISPLAY
has limits regarding the size of displayed fields and lines per
row dictates a limitation to our solution. The display will only
show 136 bytes of a key, and a text field on the display will
indicate if this truncation has occurred. Additionally, to make
room for the larger keys displayed in the table, we removed
some display lines from the top of the panel, lines that were
not needed by the user to select a partition.
