PK18529: HD POINTER CHECKER GETS ABEND0C4 IN FABPUADR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When HD database is OSAM and it is composed of
  more than six DASD volumes, ABEND0C4 could
  occur at MVC instruction (D205 6000 F000)
  in FABPUADR.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: HD Pointer Checker gets ABEND0C4 at the *
  *                      module FABPUADR. The PSW at the time of *
  *                      the error contains X'D205 6000 F000'.   *
  *                      This error occurs if the processing     *
  *                      database data set is OSAM and it is     *
  *                      composed of more than 5 volumes.        *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *
  ****************************************************************
  To obtain volume serial numbers of a database data set, HPPC
  issues RDJFCB macro using DCB exit list with X'07' (JFCB) and
  X'13' (ARL). HPPC frees the ARL area after JFCB macro, but
  it refers the ARL area. Therefore it may get ABEND0C4.
  

Problem conclusion

• The module FABPUADR has been modified free the ARL area after
  the area reference.
