Error description

  • The installation of the BUNDLE EXAMPLE fails with transaction
abends AJVM and AAM4. No BUNDLE resource was created, however
the bundle was installed partially. This means that the BUNDLE
can't be discarded at this stage.
A subsequent attempt to re-install BUNDLE EXAMPLE gets a
    DUPLICATE_RESOURCE_FOUND condition (with message DFHSJ1100).

The BUNDLE can't be discarded properly and a JVM re-cycle is
required in order to resolve the issue.

Message sequence at first install of BUNDLE EXAMPLE:
    -------------------------------------------------
DFHRL0107 The CICS resource lifecycle manager has started to
                create the BUNDLE resource EXAMPLE.
DFHRL0125 BUNDLE resource EXAMPLE is being created with
                BUNDLEID
DFHSJ1004 An exception has been thrown by the route method
                of class com/ibm/cics/router/Router running in
                JVMSERVER TESTJVM.
DFHDU0203I A transaction dump was taken for dumpcode: AJVM,
                Tranid: CEDA, Tranum: Program: DFHAMP.
DFHRL0124 The CICS resource lifecycle manager failed to create
                resource for BUNDLE EXAMPLE .
DFHRL0102 E The CICS resource lifecycle manager failed to create
                the resource with reason CALL_BACK_ERROR
DFHRL0110 E The CICS resource lifecycle manager has failed to
create the BUNDLE resource EXAMPLE .
DFHDU0203I A transaction dump was taken for dumpcode: AAM4

Message sequence at second install of BUNDLE EXAMPLE :
    --------------------------------------------------
DFHRL0107 I The CICS resource lifecycle manager has started to
                create the BUNDLE resource TEST.
DFHRL0125 I BUNDLE resource TEST is being created with BUNDLEID
DFHSJ1100 An attempt to install the OSGi bundle failed with
                reason code DUPLICATE_RESOURCE_FOUND.
DFHRL0109 I The CICS resource lifecycle manager has created the
BUNDLE resource TEST and the BUNDLE is in the state
                disabled

Reviewing the code and trace it can be seen that the error the
SJ domain encounters is reported back to RL domain as a disaster
which causes the task to abend.
CICS should instead be returning back an exception so that the
BUNDLE is installed in a disabled state.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Installation of an OSGi bundle fails *
    * with transaction abends of AJVM and *
    *                      AAM4.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
CEDA is used to install a CICS BUNDLE which contains an OSGi
bundlepart. The JAR file within the bundle is missing and so
when CICS attempts to install the bundlepart an exception is
thrown. This causes an AJVM abend to occur followed by CEDA
    abending with an AAM4.

A subsequent attempt to re-install the BUNDLE gets a
    DUPLICATE_RESOURCE_FOUND condition (with message DFHSJ1100).

The BUNDLE can't be discarded properly and a JVM server re-cycle
is required in order to resolve the issue.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS has been updated to install the BUNDLE in a disabled state
if the JAR file from an OSGi bundle can not be found.
