APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • xDR - z/VM image not going down when shutdown is initiated
from GDPS and ctrl-alt-del target has been changed from default
reboot to /dev/null on Linux guest

Local fix

  • use reboot as ctrl-alt-del target

Problem summary

* users using GDPS Metro Multiplatform Resiliency for System z
* for management of Linux on z/VM guests (xDR z/VM guest Linux
* on System z)

* Problem Summary:

* In case ctrl-alt-del target is /dev/null instead of reboot
* on proxy guests, the z/VM stop triggered from GDPS
* is not working as expected and z/VM is not shutdown
*

Problem conclusion

  • xDR proxy Code has been changed to ensure the proxy guest
is stopped with a z/VM stop triggered by GDPS even if
ctrl-alt-del target is set to /dev/null
